Texas adds Holland to their 2012 class

Texas picked up another 2012 commitment. This time they picked up a local guard that can help their backcourt.

Texas added senior guard DeMarcus Holland to their 2012 recruiting class Sunday night.

A previous commit to South Florida, Holland, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Garland (Tex.) Naaman Forest, gave Rick Barnes and his staff a verbal pledge, joining current high school teammate and Texas signee Prince Ibeh.

"He's happy to have this opportunity," Top Achiever Pistons coach Lawrence Mann told Scout.com.

To go with interest from South Florida and Texas, Fresno State and San Diego State were also in the running for his services.

"He wants to go to Texas because he loves the competition in the Big 12 and he wanted to stay close to home," Mann said. "He just wanted to be close to his family."

Holland, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard, joins Ibeh, as well as five-star prospect Cameron Ridley, Connor Lammert, Javan Felix and Ioannis Papapetrou to make up their 2012 class.
