Wilson joins Milwaukee Vincent wing Deonte Burton in MU's 2013 class…
Wilson selects Marquette
Duane Wilson, a 2013 guard out of Milwaukee (Wisc.) Dominican, made his college choice on Tuesday. Wilson selected the local school -- Marquette -- after strongly considering Missouri, Memphis and a number of other high major programs. "I really liked the offense," Wilson told Scout.com. "I like the campus and obviously it's Milwaukee. I love the city and I love the people in it. My family can come to every game. I would love to play with my older cousin Jamil Wilson." For Wilson, getting to stay home played a major role in his decision. "It's going to be mean a lot," he said when asked about playing in front of his family. "I've been playing in front of them a lot. It's going to be fun for the next five years for them be able to come to my games and be there for me." The weekend of February 19th, Wilson took a visit to Marquette and he got to review the academic side of things. "Me and my mom and my dad went down there on the Sunday," he said. "We talked to coach [Tony] Benford and we talked for four hours. I saw the academic side. I talked to the academic advisor." Wilson also spent time with Marquette head coach Buzz Williams. "He told me he loves to have a guard that can play point guard, but can also play combo guard," Wilson said. "He likes versatile guards that can defend anybody." A 6-foot-2 guard, Wilson is a talented prospect that ranks as a four-star prospect and checked in at No. 94 overall in Scout.com's recent 2013 rankings. Wilson is the second top 100 prospect to give Buzz Williams and his staff a verbal pledge. Deonte Burton, who is also a local recruit, committed to Marquette in September of 2011. Wilson led his team to a WIAA Division 4 state title this past Saturday. He scored 24 points in the championship.
