Blue Demons add pledge

DePaul landed their third commitment in the 2012 class with a guard from Nevada.

The DePaul Blue Demons have been looking to add to their 2012 class and add depth to their backcourt. They took a step toward that on Monday as Henderson (Nev.) Green Valley combo guard Durrell McDonald pledged to the Blue Demons.

Not too many knew about McDonald who is a native of the Las Vegas area, but Head Coach Oliver Purnell saw what he liked in McDonald, offered him a scholarship, and hosted him on an official visit this weekend.

During the visit McDonald decided that DePaul was the right place for him.

"Yes sir I verbally committed to DePaul," McDonald informed Scout.com.

According to McDonald, he saw the perfect situation at DePaul.

"Everything was great," said McDonald. "From the style of play, to the academics of the school, everything was just the right fit for me."

McDonald is a 6-foot-2 combo guard who is known for his ability to penetrate and get into the lane using quickness and high level athleticism.

By issuing his commitment McDonald now joins a three man class headed to the Chicago campus. Along with McDonald the Blue Demons have signed Michigan shooter Jodan Price along with big time rebounder DeJuan Marrero.

DePaul also is heavily in the mix for one of the best shot blockers in the country, Christopher Obekpa.
