Gathers is back open

St. John's thought they had their power forward for the future, but Ricardo Gathers decided it wasn't the spot for him.

The St. John's Red Storm were dealt a tough blow late on Tuesday night when Ricardo Gathers decided he wasn't signing with the school. The 6-foot-8 Gathers, who committed at the end of July, has decided to re-open his recruitment according to a source.

"Oh he definitely opened it up," said the source. "He won't be signing with St. John's but they are still in it."

The expectation is that Gathers will seriously entertain staying close to home with LSU and also Texas is another school that has rumored to be seriously involved with Gathers.

Gathers is the No. 34 ranked prospect in the country, and will be one of the most heavily recruited players going through the high school season.
