The long recruitment of Mitch McGary came to an end on Thursday evening as the five-star standout announced his commitment to the University of Michigan on national television. The announcement came as no surprise to many, and now the Wolverines have completed their 2012 class.
With a national television audience looking on, McGary made his commitment by saying, “Next fall I am going to Ann Arbor Michigan to become a Wolverine.”
By making his commitment, McGary becomes the third pledge in the 2012 class for the Wolverines. He joins four-star wing Glenn Robinson and three-star shooting guard Nick Stauskas.
The addition of McGary now gives Head Coach John Beilein his most talented class in his time at Michigan, and also puts the Wolverines up there with any class in the Big Ten in terms of incoming talent.
To land the commitment from McGary, Michigan had to beat out Duke and Florida at the end, but also schools like Maryland, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina were involved for a significant time period.
