Kris Humphries, a McDonald’s All-American, has been released from his letter of intent by Duke University.

Kris Humphries, a McDonald’s All-American and Top 25 prospect from Minnesota, asked for and was granted his release from Duke University on Monday afternoon.

Obviously, a very good player is now available late in the spring. From what we understand to be the case, no restrictions were put on Humphries as far as potential schools he could sign with. Clearly, high-major programs like hometown Minnesota, which has scholarships to offer, would be interested.

We also understand that Humphries will need to petition in order to have his eligibility granted to play next season. That shouldn’t be a problem because we don’t envision Duke putting up much opposition to this.

It appears to be a case where Humphries had second thoughts about joining the Blue Devils and Duke, having no true shortage at his position, obliged him.

We’ll have more on this as the situation develops.
