The Missouri Tigers were able to snag a local product on Thursday with the news of a commitment from Travis Jorgenson

It was an excellent summer for Travis Jorgenson. The point guard from Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge High School helped lead L.J. Goolsby’s K.C. Pump ‘N Run squad to many strong tournament showings. Now he has translated that into a verbal commitment.

Schools such as Boston College, Creighton, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, and Virginia all came forward with offers for Jorgenson, but at the end of the day he selected the Missouri Tigers, Jorgenson confirmed.

According to Jorgenson a visit with Coach Frank Haith and assistant coach Isaac Chew sealed the deal for him.

"I actually went out there to meet with Coach Chew and Coach Haith yesterday," said Jorgenson. "We talked for two or three hours and saw the facilities."

While Missouri is in his hometown, Jorgenson wasn't always sure it was the place he wanted to be.

"I always enjoyed watching them play, but I never thought about playing for them until recently," said Jorgenson. "I think it will be such an honor to play for a school in my hometown."

At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Jorgenson isn't the most physical point guard out there, but he is a very good shooter, and also sees the floor will. Beyond that he possesses solid quickness and displays a good feel for the game.

By picking the Tigers, Jorgenson becomes the second commitment for Missouri in the 2013 class joining big man Tyrek Coger who committed to the program shortly after Haith took the job in Columbia.
