In a sudden change of plans, Andre Drummond is headed to Connecticut.
Initially the plan was for Drummond to do a post-graduate year at Wilbraham (Mass.) Wilbraham & Monson Academy. On Friday that plan was scrapped.
Drummond, the nation’s top big man prospect, announced via Twitter that he has opted to skip his post-graduate year and join the Huskies 2011 recruiting class.
“It's official I'm heading to the university of connecticut to be a husky this year,” Drummond tweeted.
A source close to the situation also confirmed the news. Drummond had recently narrowed his list of schools down to Connecticut, Louisville, Kentucky, West Virginia and Georgetown.
Drummond joins a 2011 class that also consisted of Ryan Boatright and highly regarded wing prospect DeAndre Daniels.
Drummond was ranked No. 2 overall in the 2012 class.
