Catching Up On Signings

There’s been a lot going on the past few days in the world of college basketball. With that said, we wanted to catch you up on some of the most recent signings.

Quick Tour Around The Country

Final Four participant Marquette added one of the early commitments from Georgia’s class. Big man Marcus Jackson, the MVP of juco Region V, signed with the Golden Eagles.

Speaking of former Georgia signees, Utah State added one as well. Cassius Matheus signed on the dotted line with Utah State. He averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks last season.

Quinnipiac added a pair of players. Pierre Faye, a 6-9 big man from Trinity Valley JC signed. Last month’s trip to the Kingwood Classic by assistant coach Darren Savino resulted in a commitment by Hamilton, N.J., forward Christian Burns.

Penn State found itself a new point guard in the form of New Yorker Marlon Smith.

George Mason added to its recruiting haul with the addition of Makan Konate out of Worcester Academy and Gabe Norwood, a high schooler from State College, Pa.

Buffalo and assistant coach Mike Mennenga landed a steal in forward Parnell Smith, a former Spiece Top Prospect standout.

Did Old Dominion get it done in the CAA or what? In addition to Arnaud Dahi, Abdi Lidonde, Brian Henderson and Valdas Vasylius, the Monarchs procured a signature from point guard Drew Williamson. Prior to the coaching change at North Carolina, Williams was set to walk-on.

UT-Chattanooga and head coach Jeff Lebo signed Jamar Jenkins out of all places, Chapel Hill. No, not Chapel Hill, N.C., but Chapel Hill, Tenn., and Forrest High.

Billy Gillispie at UTEP added two this spring. He landed Omar Thomas, a forward, and guard Filberto Rivera.

South Florida went north to Schoolcraft JC for guard James Holmes.

The St. Louis Billikens went East to Athens, Greece and landed a big man. They signed Ian Vouyoukas from a club team.

Western Carolina and head coach Steve Shurina signed Lunzaya Nlandu from Santa Fe JC.
