There are plenty of players the Arizona coaching staff will be watching, but who are the players…
2014 Intro: Isaiah Bailey
One of the most impressive 2014 prospects on the West Coast is 6-foot-4, 175-pound Compton (Calif.) wing Isaiah Bailey. A lanky, athletic scorer from the wing position, Bailey has grown a couple inches in the past year and it wouldn't be a surprise if he grew into a pure three. Regardless, he's got range out to beyond the arc and his athleticism allows him to cut to the basket and finish above the rim. Bailey is using the summer to help prepare him for a bigger role on next year's Compton squad. "Right now I'm not where I want to be before the season," Bailey said. "I think I need to work on my dribbling a little more and just being a more fundamental, team player." Even though he's just coming off his freshman season, Bailey has received letters from a handful of schools, including Memphis, Oregon, UCLA, California and Colorado. He'll be on USC's campus next weekend for team camp. There are two schools that especially have Bailey's interest, despite the fact they haven't recruited him yet. "I always liked Duke since I was little," Bailey said. "Coach K, all the recruits they have coming in this year; Austin Rivers, Stephen Curry's little brother (Seth), Nolan Smith, Shelden Williams, my favorite player from there was J.J. Redick, but I know about Grant Hill, Elton Brand, Carlos Boozer, everyone that went there. "I like Arizona too; I just like the area there. There was just something I liked about them seeing them in the tournament this year." There's a long way to go for Bailey and he's not sure how big of a factor location will play in his recruitment. "I've never really thought about it, if I want to stay on the West Coast or East Coast," he said. "I don't know; we'll see when that time comes." For now, Bailey isn't worried about recruiting and is more focused on getting better. "I just want to work on my game," he said. "This is a year where I'll just work on my game. Junior and senior year, we'll see what I've got."
