"I did a lot of pros and cons," Wing said. "My first love is basketball. I love basketball and the opportunity to play at a big time level night in and night out. Oklahoma State wants me to come in and take Paige's spot."
Wing, who is a two-sport athlete, threw for over 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns as a quarterback last season and was committed to Marshall for football.
However, basketball has always been his favorite sport, so when the Oklahoma State opportunity came along, Wing went with his "first love."
"Basketball has always been my first love," Wing said. "My heart says basketball is where it's at."
"Coach Ford came down to an open gym last month and watched me play a little bit," he said. "It means a lot when a head coach comes in and watches me. That sold me right there."
Wing has yet to visit Oklahoma State, but plans to take an unofficial in June. He'll then follow it up with an official visit at the beginning of his senior season.
The 6-foot-4 guard is Oklahoma State's first verbal commitment in the 2012 class.
