Things are going well in-state for Rick Stansbury and Mississippi State. A year after pulling in a quality in-state duo, Stansbury is back at it again. The latest player to join the fold is Jackson (MS) Jim Hill shooting guard Fred Thomas.
At 6-foot-5 and 170 pounds, Thomas is an absolute weapon on the perimeter. He is one of the best shooters in the entire 2012 class, and has the long arms and quick release to be a problem for defenders.
Mississippi State made Thomas a priority early on and it paid off with a commitment on Monday evening. Thomas confirmed the pledge via text message to Scout.com.
The commitment didn’t come as a surprise to many as the Bulldogs have long held an edge for Thomas. Along with Mississippi State, UTEP, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Georgia were all involved in his recruitment.
Now in the fold, Stansbury and company have two pledges in the 2012 class. Thomas joins fellow wing Craig Sword as a commitment in the class.
