FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Bill Hensley Memorial Run N' Slam in the Spiece Fieldhouse tipped off Friday afternoon. Through the three games on day one, Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell stood out above the rest.

Kevin Ferrell, PG, Indiana Elite – The guard known as Yogi, had a productive outing in a blow out win of Club Ohio. Ferrell, a 6-foot lead guard headed to Indiana, made his way into the paint, created opportunities for teammates and had the jump shot working. He’s quick, strong and has turned himself into a knock down shooter off the dribble. Ferrell also does a great job manning the point guard responsibilities on a loaded Indiana Elite squad.

Hanner Perea, PF, Indiana Elite – When the game is fast paced, Perea, a 6-foot-8 Indiana pledge, is at his best. So up against Club Ohio, Perea was able to showcase his terrific athleticism and leaping ability. He runs the floor very well and had a handful of finishes on the break. We were also impressed with the way he protected the rim and got after it on the glass. Going forward he’ll need to continue to develop his back to the basket moves, but because of his athleticism and mobility he’s a terrific long term prospect.

Jay Simpson, PF, Illinois Wolves – In an overtime win over ICP Portland, Simpson, a 6-foot-8 power forward, had his moments. Offensively he likes to face up defenders and attack the basket or he’ll line up mid-range jump shots. With such a strong frame, Simpson is capable of throwing his weight around and snagging rebounds inside. He likes to fade to the perimeter a tad too much, but he’s still a pretty good-looking prospect.

Caleb Dressler, C, ICP Portland – With scoring wing Anthony January not in Fort Wayne, Dressler got a few more touches than he’s received in the EYBL. The southpaw has a nice jump hook on the block and isn’t afraid to mix it up inside. He’s a below the rim guy, but he’ll fight for boards and contests shots in the paint. Mid-majors should definitely be tracking this 6-foot-9 big man.

Elijah Macon, PF, All-Ohio Red – There’s a lot to like about this 6-foot-8 bouncy power forward. In run and jump situations, Macon looks exceptional, as he’s a terrific leaper and moves fluidly. Now he won’t wow you with back to the basket moves, but Macon will impress by facing up defenders and attacking the rim. He’s a legit high major prospect.

*Eron Harris and Delvon Rencher are both impressive prospects for Indiana Elite. Harris is an athletic guard that defends and attacks, while Rencher, a lefty hit a few jumpers, and was active on both ends.

*Ron Patterson showed up late to the game, but still managed to show off the range on his jump shot. He hit a three well past the stripe late in the first half and also had an impressive finish through contact to close the half.

*Unfortunately we weren’t able to watch Bo Zeigler, the cousin of Trey Zeigler, exclusively, but from a court a way he looks like an impressive wing prospect. He has a nice basketball frame and is an impressive athlete.

*Jalen Robinson is a having a strong spring. He’s as active as we’ve seen him. He looks to run the floor and he’s making his presence felt on the backboard.

*High level mid-major teams should be all over Terry Rozier, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Shaker Heights (Ohio) High. He’s athletic, has good speed and looks to create for his teammates.

Bo Zeigler said Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa State, Xavier and Central Michigan are all actively recruiting him.
