Akron, Oh. – Tournament play got going in a big way on Saturday at the King James Shooting Stars…
McClinton adding interest
As one of the top players in the 2013 class, Greg McClinton is the target of numerous college coaches. The 6-foot-6 wing is a big time athlete and someone who is already off to an excellent start this spring now that he is recovered from an injury. Before getting off to a good spring with the CP3 All-Stars, McClinton led his Winston-Slaem (NC) Prep team to a great season. "I averaged 19 and 11 so I did real good," said McClinton. "As a team we were only one game away from state, so it was a real good year." Right after the high school season McClinton was forced to miss some time with an injury, but now he is getting back healthy. "My knee is healing so it is getting better," said McClinton. "It was tough. The rehab was tough. I am still getting over it mentally." On the recruiting trail some new schools are beginning to really pick up the interest in McClinton. "NC State has started recruiting me, Missouri is going to start recruiting me, and I have offers from Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Xavier, and Miami," listed McClinton. McClinton says that he plans to take an unofficial to NC State soon now that he is hearing from the new staff. Once he takes the visits and goes through the process, McClinton knows what he will be looking for in a school when the time comes to make a choice. "I want to go to a place that wins and plays my type of basketball," said McClinton. "Also I want to go to a place that has good academics." In terms of the style of play that he is looking for, McClinton says it just has to be a system that gives players some freedom to make plays. "I like a coach who really lets his guys play, but honestly I get in where I fit in, so I think I can play in almost any system," McClinton commented. Currently McClinton is rated as the No. 29 prospect in the 2013 class.
