It's been a long recruiting process for 6-foot-6, 180-pound Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep 2012 forward Winston Shepard and it doesn't look like things are slowing down anytime soon.
One of the most versatile players in the 2012 class, Shepard still maintains a very long school list.
"My recruitment is heating up," Shepard said. "I have no top schools. In no particular order I've got New Mexico, San Diego State, Kansas, Memphis, Louisville, Kentucky, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and UCLA."
Shepard says that he wants to make sure he does his due diligence before he sits down and makes a final decision.
"I'm just taking it one day at a time," he said. "It's a hard decision so I'm just going to wait until next year to do all that. I'm going to take all five of my visits."
When looking at all the schools, Shepard will be trying to find a spot that meets a few different criteria.
"The number one factor is where I'm going to be able to come right in and play, then style of play and the coach that they have," Shepard said.
As a player, Shepard continues to strive as a guy who does all the little things to help his team win.
"I can do whatever and I definitely like that role," he said. "I think every team needs a guy that can play all over the court. I think I can be more valuable like that.
"I'm a versatile player. I can go to the post, I can bring it up, I can shoot the midrange, I can get to the rim, get to the foul line, I rebound and I can defend any position on the court. I feel like I can do pretty much anything."
Moving forward, Shepard would like to improve in a couple areas.
"I need to develop a more consistent outside shot and just continue to get stronger," he said.
