While Canty was already a highly recruited player before he went to prep school at Bridgton (ME) Academy, his game has now gone to a new level.
"Bridgton helped me become a better point guard who makes better decisions," said Canty. "Also prep school taught me how to get mentally prepared for games."
When it comes to his game, Canty feels that he has an ability to be a scorer as well as a facilitator depending on the situation.
"I see myself as a combo that can score when he has to," said Canty. "I can get a bucket when my team needs, but also can find a teammate and get an assist."
Recruiting wise things are looking good for Canty. He has numerous successful programs showing him a good deal of attention.
In fact he has a visit to College Station coming up this week.
"I am going to take a visit to Texas A&M, and that will be my first visit," Canty said. "I will just take it from there."
When on the visits, Canty is going to be looking for a place where he fits in. Distance from home isn't important to him, but he is hoping to find a place that makes him feel like he is at home.
"I am going to be looking for a place that is a family environment and just feels like a home away from home," explained Canty.
Currently Canty is ranked as the No. 9 point guard in the country and the No. 64 player overall.
