Hawkeyes consistency a plus for Olaseni

Gabe Olaseni took his long awaited visit to Iowa, which exceeded even his expectations. The Hawkeyes have the upper hand over the other interests for now.

Coach Fran McCaffery has consistently recruited Gabe Olaseni since August and it may pay off in a few weeks.

Sunrise Christian Academy Coach Kyle Linsted was told by Olaseni that he enjoyed the opportunity to grow with this program.

Coach Linsted thought this consistency helped differentiate Iowa from the rest, although Auburn has held their spot in the race for awhile.

“We are still in the process of making visits,” Linsted said. “We are figuring out who to let in and who to eliminate.”

Oklahoma Coach Jeff Capel had been let go so Olaseni will wait it out until their new coach has been chosen.

A visit to Auburn is in the works but a few more schools may find their way onto Olaseni’s interest list.

“He was in great shape, but now his picture is pretty clouded,” Linsted said.

While Olaseni’s recruiting decision is on hold, Iowa’s steady spirit may land them this new recruit.
