Hollowell stays close

Jeremy Hollowell gave the Indiana Hoosiers good news on Thursday.

The Indiana Hoosiers kept their strong recruiting run going on Thursday when they received a pledge from five-star wing Jeremy Hollowell. The 6-foot-6 Hollowell is one of the most talented players in the country, and his pledge is the fifth for the Hoosiers in the 2012 class.

Hailing from Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central High School, Hollowell was one of the more heavily recruited prospects in the Midwest. With his combination of size, skill, and athleticism on the wing, Hollowell has the unique and rare skills to be a next level talent.

Eventually Hollowell narrowed his list of four down to Cincinnati, Indiana, Ohio State, and Purdue, though the Boilermakers never offered Hollowell a scholarship. In the end at a press conference at his school, Hollowell selected the Hoosiers.

"With Indiana I felt something amazing was about to happen," said Hollowell. "Playing with the guys they already have committed should be exciting."

By selecting Indiana, Hollowell gives the Hoosiers their third five-star prospect in the 2012 class to go along with a four-star and three-star pledge. The five man class is the top early class in the country, and one that will surely be tough to beat.

About joining an already loaded class, Hollowell said, "I have been knowing Yogi(Ferrell) since the third grade, me and and Ron (Patterson) are pretty good friends from playing AAU together, and I know Hanner (Perea) and Peter (Jurkin) a little bit from AAU. I think we can do something pretty special."

During the season Hollowell felt that he might wait until after the AAU season, but when push came to shove he wanted to go into the spring and summer with a clear mind.

"I'll know where I'm going and will be able to focus on winning games and not worry about where I'm going to school. I won't have to rush at the end.

Hollowell is currently rated as the No. 23 prospect in the country overall and the No. 3 small forward. Adding that to an already impressive class has Hoosiers fans excited for the future.
