The Rice Owls are having an eventful spring. According to our man Delton Hayes, they just received another commitment, this time from a guard in Texas.

Williams picks Rice!

Lorenzo Williams, a 6-1 senior guard at Killeen (TX) Ellison didn't travel to many AAU events or shoe-sponsored camps, but the smooth lefty made his mark on the Texas high school circuit.

In a state that has elite guards Tack Minor and Daniel Gibson getting a good portion of the publicity, all Williams did was lead Ellison on a 27-game winning streak, 33-2 record, and No. 4 ranking in the state.

The streak includes wins over Booker T. Washington in which Lorenzo scored 29 points and a 30-point effort against Beaumont Central where he knocked down 5 three's.

"He was definitely in a zone," said Central coach Calvin Rice of Williams. "He's a big-time player."

Beaumont Ozen and Kendrick Perkins ended the tile run for Williams and Ellison in the Regional finals. The Honor student visited Holy Cross, Rice, and UTEP and Colorado State before making a decision.
