Michael Bell, the leading scorer at Palm Beach Junior College, reached a college decision this week. The Raleigh native is staying put in Florida.

Florida Atlantic Lands Bell

Michael Bell began his college career at North Carolina State. He’s going to finish it at Florida Atlantic. The 6-9 Bell led Palm Beach in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots this season.

With two years left he wanted to maybe go to a little bit of a smaller place,” Palm Beach coach Steve Bernath said. “He averaged 20 and 12 this year. He’s got tremendous versatility. He can shoot from the perimeter and he can score inside. He rebounds well. He’s just got to get stronger over the summer.”

Indiana, UAB, St. Joseph’s, Utah and Virginia Commonwealth each coveted Bell. “I think Coach Green wants to really take advantage of his versatility and I think they’re going to want him to put up good scoring numbers.”

This past season, Bell was an all-conference selection and runner-up to Louisville-bound swingman Nate Daniels for the conference player of the year.
