Evanochko Picks Green Bay
Wisconsin-Green Bay head coach Tod Kowalczyk now has four commitments. Adrian Schaffer, Tyler Koenig and Josh Lawrence were in the fold after the fall signing period. Now, Kowalczyk has the point guard he searched for all year long.
Ryan Evanochko, a 6-2, 190 pounder from Beaver Falls (PA) Blackhawk High committed to Green Bay over the weekend.
“It was just how I felt when I went up there on my visit,” Evanochko said. “They accepted me into their family and they felt really comfortable there.”
The guard was recently named the Pennsylvania 3-A state player of the year and Pittsburgh area player of the year. He averaged 26 points a game as a senior.
Evanochko was offered by Albany and UNC-Greensboro. He went up to Green Bay officially last weekend. “They want me to come in to play at the point. They already have a very good shooter. They want me to control the ball, bring it up and distribute.”
Evanochko was impressed with Kowalczyk and his passion for the program. “I liked seeing how much he wants to improve his players and how much he wants to win and make us work hard.”
Blackhawk has a long and proud basketball history of which Evanochko is now a part of. Head coach John Miller, winner of 600 games and 5 state titles, has coached his share of Division I players. Leading the way are sons Sean Miller (Pittsburgh) and Archie Miller (NC State). North Carolina standout Dante Calabria and current Buckeye Brandon Fuss-Cheatam are also alumni of the program.
