Memphis continues to bring in top tier talent. Last year they scored three five-star standouts, they added another to the team on Thursday.

Coming off a year where Josh Pastner reeled in a top three recruiting class, the second year head coach at Memphis was able to score a commitment from a top 10 recruit on Thursday.

During an announcement on ESPN, Thomas, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing prospect, announced that he would stay home and play for Memphis.

"After so much planning and deciding and talking to my family and my high school coach, I'd like to take my game and further my college career to the University of Memphis," Thomas said.

Thomas also considered Florida, Arkansas, UCLA and Tennessee.

"I love Memphis," Thomas said. "They have great fan support. I just would love to play with those players. They have great guys that I've played with during AAU season."

Thomas,'s No. 8 prospect in the 2011 class, is an elite prospect that brings high level athleticism to the table. His scoring ability has improved and he's especially effective in the open court.

The Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose standout is Memphis' first verbal commitment in the 2011 recruiting class.
