Sharpshooter To USC
The South Carolina Gamecocks were recruiting one wing player in the Class of 2011. Darrin Horn's team got its man Thursday afternoon when Damien Leonard joined Anthony Gill, another Top 100 player, in the USC class. Leonard, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, is ranked No. 90 in senior class. He resides a shade over an hour from campus and his decision came down to the Gamecocks and Oklahoma State. "They've been on me since summer going into my 9th grade year," Leonard told Scout.com. In fact, Horn showed up to watch Leonard his first week on the job. "That shows you right there that they really needed me. He knew they had to have me." As a junior, the sharpshooter tossed in 23 points a game for J.L. Mann of Greenville, S.C. Make no mistake about it, Leonard has size and range with his jump shot. It's been his calling card since he became a national recruiting target his sophomore season.
