Scout.com Class of 2012 Top 75
If you like big men, the Class of 2012 is the group you’ve been waiting for. This week, Scout.com revised its rankings and seven of the Top 10 members of the class were bigs. Taking it a step further, 14 of the Top 25 play the power forward or center position. We think our Top 15 Centers is as good an early list as we’ve seen in a long, long time.
Andre Drummond is a mega talent and is the No. 1 prospect in this class. He will be pushed. If Drummond drops the hammer, its over because he has the physical tools, athletic ability and size to end any debate as to whom the best in this class is.
Having said that about Drummond, in his rearview mirror are a host of talented guys capable of supplanting him over time. Isaiah Austin, Baylor’s commitment, is skilled, big and makes incremental gains.
Shabazz Muhammad is the best wing player in the class. Period. End of story. He was awesome last summer and delivered the goods as you’d expect a player his caliber to do. Khem Birch is the new Derrick Favors and Dajuan Coleman reminds us a lot of Zach Randolph.
If you’re looking for a guy to hone in on this year, mark Cameron Ridley. He’s a guy we will watch extremely close. We were aggressive with our rating (No. 6) but expect to be in the ballpark when it’s all said and done.
Here’s the position breakdown:
Point Guards (9)
Shooting Guards (12)
Small Forwards (21)
Power Forwards (17)
