Xavier scored a big commitment shortly after their Musketeer Madness festivities…
Smith-Rivera Has Six Schools On His List
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera was forced to the sidelines during the summer circuit. But that hasn't affected his recruitment. The 6-foot-3 powerful combo guard has a number of high major programs trailing him. Recently Smith-Rivera narrowed his list of schools to Xavier, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Miami, Ohio State and Indiana. Georgetown is the only school of the six that hasn't offered him a scholarship. Smith-Rivera actually made a trip to Georgetown, as well as Wake Forest last weekend. "They went pretty good," he said. "I got to see Georgetown and Wake Forest and I like both of them a lot. Both of them are pretty intimate schools and their campuses are pretty small, which works out better for me." With the Hoyas, Smith-Rivera was impressed with their campus and everything that comes with a school being located in D.C. "Seems like a pretty historical area, so it's always good to be somewhere where you can see a lot of new things and it was my first time out there," Smith-Rivera said. "It was pretty awesome." The Indianapolis (Ind.) North Central standout also spent some time in Winston-Salem visiting Jeff Bzedlik and his staff. "Wake Forest was pretty different," he said. "I like the area and everything like that. I know some people that live there and I'm pretty familiar with the place. The schools overall I like it a lot and the coaching staff is pretty cool." Although he's narrowed his list of schools to six, Smith-Rivera doesn't appear to be in a hurry with the recruiting process. "I'm still pretty open to the recruiting process right now, but as of right now those are my front runners," he said. Smith-Rivera, who is still in rehab and not quite 100-percent, said he started his first workouts this week. "It's doing a lot better," he said of his injury. "I just went through my first work out and going through some shooting workouts. I'm just anxious to get back in the gym." Smith-Rivera, a four-star prospect, is currently rated No. 35 in the 2012 class.
